Freeze Dried Tarts Candy 4 oz

I picked up a bag of Freeze-Dried Tart Crunch Candy recently, and it was a fun little treat! The candy came in a 4 oz resealable bag, which is perfect for throwing in my backpack. It reminded me a lot of those sweet tart candies I used to love as a kid, but with a lighter, airier texture. The best part? They puff up after being freeze-dried and literally melt in your mouth. They were so addicting. I kept reaching back in for "just one more" piece! The only downside was that the bag wasn't bigger. They were so good they disappeared way too fast. It is a fun twist on a classic candy! I wonder what else they can freeze dry…

One of our house members loves soft spree candy but finds the hard too difficult to eat. You can really taste the spree in these and it's a novel texture. They dissolve pretty quickly in the mouth but just didn't hit the same craving spot the regular spree does. It leaves a bit of an aftertaste they didn't like. However, the other sugar addicts in the house downed the bag for them in less than a day so it's a neat but expensive treat with a sugar rush. One star off because a lot of the bag turned to powder and crumbled before arrival.

The candy that these freeze dried candies were made from reminds me of Sprees (which I haven't seen around for years and years). They look like deranged macaroons lol, but they're pretty delicious and have a fun crunchy texture. The bag is a bit small, so between me and my three kids the bag didn't last very long, and the price tag is definitely keeping me from getting more-- at least for awhile. We enjoyed them while they lasted though, and they're definitely worth a try!

We call these "crunchy skittles". They have a fantastic taste to them and a handful is all you really need. They have great 'mouth feel' and were fresh out of the bag. I know fresh is an odd word for something freeze-dried, but some we've had were a bit stale, or humidity caused them to get a little too damp or chewy. This brand was fresh and delicious and we were all very pleased with them. Great on ice cream or thrown into trail mix.

These candies taste just like the sprees I had in the 90s (ah, the nostalgia). There is a satisfying crunch on the outside and then the vaporizing, melting goodness of the sugar in the middle. There were a few that did not "explode". I was ok with that as I was able to enjoy them the "standard" way. They didn't last long in the house (less than 24 hours). The only con is the cost.
